Dear Little Black Boy: Letters From the Spirits of Black Men

Dear Little Black Boy,

I speak to you today with some things that have actually been on my mind lately about our youth, especially our young black men. I have gone through some experiences in life that I hope I can share with you as a “heads up” on growing up into an adult. You must begin to prepare yourself for life as an adult during the end of your teenage years. Have fun as a teenager with your friends, make sure you keep your grades up in school, avoid the negativity out here in this world, and find a way to stay physically fit and active. Work on these things so that you can eliminate some of the struggles in life. These practices will also help you get used to starting a routine in life that will bring success and happiness to yourself.

There are a lot of things going on in this world that you may have already seen, and that you will experience growing up into an adult. My advice to you would be to take your time, find a passion in life or something that you can enjoy doing daily, and learn how to respectfully treat a woman. You want to really think about these things and find the best way to approach this lifestyle before you jump into life situations!

Family and REAL friends will be very important to your life. You want to make sure you keep your loved ones close and they will establish a nice support system for you. Any negative family members and friends, you want to keep a distance between them. They can become a cancer to your lifestyle and bring you down very quickly if you let them. Always love your family and friends, but if they’re not bringing positivity to your life, you must always remember to keep that distance.

Find a comfortable pace in life that makes you happy in life. You have plenty of time for a career, a good woman, marriage, and starting a family of your own. But you want to focus on preparing yourself the correct way in life so you can truly enjoy these blessings. Learn how to become a strong man, a provider for your future family, and success will come to you. Your belief in God will be a major factor as well. If you stay humble, believe in God, maintain happiness, and practice the things that you believe in, you will be able to enjoy the blessings in the outcome.

These are some of the things that I practice in life as I have grown into a young man at the age of 30 currently. Please feel free to contact me anytime and I will be glad to share more of my experiences that will educate you and inspire you to do better in life.
